American noise-pop band feeble little horse share hyperactive new single ‘This Is Real’. The track is the Pittsburgh quartet’s first release since their 2023 record Girl with Fish, and it’s chock full of sharp turns. Off to a jangly, sugar-coated start with a playfully shimmery guitar melody, ‘This Is Real’ progresses into a frenetic sonic odyssey within three minutes. The sweet melody morphs into a tangle of harsher, distorted instrumentation that leads into vocalist Lydia Slocum’s hypnotic recitation of ‘If you’re not real/Then I’m not real’, which builds into razor-sharp wails. A mercurial thrill, the track settles back into a bright, breezy soundscape of warm strums, airy synths and softly-toned vocals. Preluding their first ever UK/EU tour, ‘This Is Real’ is a standout piece for feeble little horse, capturing a fresh wave of energy while hinting at an exhilarating path ahead. -Kayla Sandiford
